declaring that such an appointment is desirable, and Dr. Margaret Patterson was appointed under this section one of the police magistrates for the city of Toronto. The legislation was probably unnecessary as there was nothing in The Police Magistrates Act to prevent such an appointment, but it was, no doubt, thought advisable in making such an innovation that the council should be consulted and express legislative authority given.
