Women who are ratepayers are eligible for membership on boards of high school trustees and boards of education and public school boards in the same manner as men.

In rural school sections the persons qualified to be elected school trustees are British subjects of the full age of twenty-one years, who are:

  1. resident ratepayers, or

  2. the husbands, wives, sons, daughters, brothers or sisters of persons assessed as the actual owners of farms (a farm being not less than twenty acres of land in the actual occupation of the owner) where such husbands, wives, sons, daughters, brothers and sisters are resident on the farm with the person so assessed.

In cities, towns and villages, every person who is a British subject, of the full age of twenty-one years, and a ratepayer, supporting public schools, resident in the municipality or within one mile from its boundaries may be elected a public school trustee.

All the learned professions subject to legislative control are now open to women on the same terms as to men.
