ELECTORAL FRANCHISE   159

  1. Being a British subject by birth or naturalization.

  2. Being rated, or entitled to be rated, on the last revised assessment roll of the local municipality for land held as owner or tenant to the required amount, or being the wife or husband of a person so rated, or entitled to be rated, or rated for income, or if entered on the assessment roll as a farmer's son.

The required rating for land is as follows:

  1. In villages and townships, $100.

  2. In towns having a population not exceeding three thousand, $200.

  3. In towns having a population exceeding three thousand, $300.

  4. In cities, $400.

The rating for income must be in respect to income from a trade, office calling or profession of not less than $400 received during the twelve months next preceding the final revision of the assessment roll, or the twelve months next preceding the last day for making complaint to the judge under The Ontario Poters' Lists Act.

Where the owner and occupant are sever-ally, but not jointly, rated, each shall be deemed to be rated.
