CHAPTER X.

PUBLIC HEALTH AND SOCIAL HYGIENE.

The care of the public health of the Province is committed for the most part to the Provincial Board of Health, the local boards of health and medical officers of health of the various municipalities and the districts in unorganized territory. The Provincial Board is composed of seven persons, one of whore is the Chief Officer of Health for the Province. The Chief Officer of Health, and at least four of the members of the Board, must be legally qualified medical practitioners. An additional officer of the board is designated as the Provincial Inspector of Health.

The executive functions of the board are discharged for the most part by the Chief Officer of Health and the Provincial Inspector, who are charged with carrying out the provisions of 7'he Public Health Jct, and the Board is charged with carrying out the health
