Michael Steele, M.D., Tavi-
stock, Ont., son of Thomas
and Joanna Steele, of Avon-
bank, Perth County, was born there
oil July 24th, 1861. He «as educated
at the public school near his home, the
Collegiate Institute, St. 'Mary's and the
Normal School, Toronto. After teach-
ing for a number of years in rural
schools, he entered Trinity Medical
College for his professional training.
He graduated ALD., C.M., in April,
i888, receiving- first-class honors. In his
boyhood he worked on his father's farm,
as many of our prominent professional
men have done. A few months after

graduating, he commenced the practice of his profession in Tavistock, as successor to Dr. Rankiii, where he has reinained since. He is popular among all classes, and has a large and a remunerative business, which is rapidly increasing. Dr. Steele is a member of the Presbyterian Church, and takes a deep interest in all departments of church work. He is a member and examining physician for several benevolent societies, and also medical examiner for several Life Assurance Companies. Dr. Steele was married on the 20th of March, 1889, to Miss Annie Clarke.
